Ghanaian Evacuees Return Home: Government concludes successful operation to bring citizens back from Israel

The Government of Ghana has successfully concluded the evacuation of its nationals from Israel, bringing home all citizens who requested government assistance. The operation, coordinated through Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv and in collaboration with regional partners, also included the withdrawal of some diplomatic staff.
According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the evacuation operation was a success, with all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the government safely evacuated out of Israel and back home.
“Our evacuation operation in Israel has been a success. We have safely evacuated all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the Government of Ghana out of Israel back home,” Mr. Ablakwa stated in a social media post.
The minister added that the government’s decision to retain a small diplomatic presence in Israel was aimed at ensuring continued support for Ghanaian nationals who may still require assistance.
“We are grateful to the Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation, which made this complex operation possible,” Mr. Ablakwa said, highlighting the cross-border coordination required to secure safe passage.
The evacuees arrived in Accra and have been received by officials, marking the latest in a series of emergency responses by the government seeking to protect citizens amid heightened insecurity in the region.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs said the government will continue to monitor developments closely and stand ready to assist any citizens who may still require support.
“This administration remains committed to prioritizing the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians wherever they may be,” Mr. Ablakwa emphasized.
The evacuation operation is a testament to the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, particularly in times of crisis. The successful operation is also a reflection of the strong diplomatic ties between Ghana and its regional partners, including Israel and Egypt.
Ghana’s evacuation efforts are part of a broader regional response to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The government has been working closely with other countries in the region to ensure the safe passage of citizens and to address the humanitarian implications of the conflict.
The government has not released the exact number of Ghanaians evacuated, but sources indicate that the operation involved several dozen citizens.
The evacuation operation is a significant achievement for the Ghanaian government, demonstrating its ability to respond to complex emergencies and protect its citizens abroad.
As the situation in the region continues to evolve, the government has urged all Ghanaians to remain vigilant and to follow official guidance on travel and safety.
The government has also reassured citizens that it remains committed to providing support and assistance to all Ghanaians in need, both at home and abroad.
The successful evacuation operation is expected to provide relief to the families of those evacuated and to contribute to the overall stability and security of the region.
Ghana’s diplomatic efforts in the region are expected to continue, with a focus on promoting peace, stability, and cooperation among nations.
The government will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary. In the meantime, citizens are advised to remain calm and to follow official guidance on travel and safety.
