UniMAC holds 4th Congregation – Urges govt to construct foot bridge for students safety

The University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC) have graduated a total of two hundred and fifty (250) students in various Masters programmes and comprises of 147 females representing 58.8% and 103 males representing 41.2% of their respective graduating class.
Speaking at the 2nd session of the 4th congregation ceremony in Accra, the Vice – Chancellor of UniMAC, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah used the occasion to appeal to government through HE. John Dramani Mahama and other related road safety institutions to contract a foot bridge on the NI highway to safeguard lives of students at the South Legon campus and its environs.
He said the University have introduced new academic programs in the area of PhD programme in Communications and Media studies including other post graduate programs which are at various stages of accreditation at Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), adding that the University is not only engaging in teaching and learning but also a research driven institution.
Throwing more light on partnerships and collaborations with other bodies Prof. Eric Mensah said UniMAC have signed a Memorandum of understanding, (MoU) with Spunik News Agency of Russia to build capacity of students and faculty to be abreast with emerging trends with professional integrity in the related courses.
‘’The University have held series of workshops and webinar which form part of the effort to scale up capacity of faculty to correspond to UniMAC’s vision and mission’’, he said, adding, such trainings have equipped faculty to think critically and operate ethically.
On accommodation, he hinted that government has commenced the construction of a 400 – bed capacity student hostel facility on the East Legon campus through a partnership, saying the project will address the accommodation needs of students and congratulated graduands and urged them to remain focus, exhibit creativity and be good ambassadors in all working endevours.
Madam Yorgbe Michelle Aku Eyram emerged as the Overall Best Graduating students and used the occasion to express her heartfelt gratitude and thanked the management of UniMAC for the cordial cooperation between students and University.
