ECG rolls out corporate strategy to enhance operations and revenue collection

.Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has launched it’s 2025 – 2029 Corporate Strategy geared towards enhancing reliable power supply, and revenue mobilization and diversification for national growth and development.
The strategy will also scale up operational efficiencies and modernize power distribution as well as improve financial viability, sustainability and address uninterrupted power supply.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor said the demand for electricity is on the increase and it is as a result of rapid economic expansion and said inefficiencies in revenue collection has created a huge burden on consumers who paid their electricity bills across the country.

‘’Government is exploring innovative ways to revenue assurance in partnership with the private sector in revenue collection to enhance efficiency and solve revenue leakages’’ he said.
Adding that government is working fervently to procure and install about 1,500 transformers across the country to replace obsolete equipment’s to improve electricity supply as the exercise will start at the end of March, 2026.

The Minister therefore urged government bodies to ensure prompt payment of their bills for the country to reap the needed revenue for unfractured development for growth.
For his part, Mr. Julius Kpekpena the Acting Managing Director of Electricity Company ofGhana said previous corporate strategy in 2021 to 2024 has ended hence a new one have been introduced as part of the effort to enhance ECG operations.

He said the corporate strategy is on five keys areas namely cost reduction, revenue improvement, system loss reduction, outage reduction and customer experience improvement.
In his remarks, the Chairman of ECG, Dr. William Amuna said the company will work towards strong revenue collection, saying in spite of improvements, ECG continued to face operational challenges due to high system losses

‘’The company therefore called on management and staff, consumers, regulators and other stakeholders in the power space to support the strategy to enable ECG to fulfill it’s mandate to reliable power supply for growth and development ‘’, he added.
