‘Ghana is calling on Commonwealth countries to support a UN resolution recognizing the transatlantic slave trade as the greatest crime against humanity, with a vote scheduled for March 25.
Addressing the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting in London, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa urged member states to rally behind the initiative, emphasizing its importance in pursuing reparative justice.
“The resolution represents an important step toward global recognition of the historical injustice,” Ablakwa said. “We urge member states to support this initiative, declaring the transatlantic slave trade as the greatest crime against humanity.”
