NDC branch secretary alleges misuse of DRIP machines by MCE

Story: Maurice Otoo

Malam Dauda, the NDC Branch Secretary for Ga West, has levelled serious allegations against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Atwima Nwabiagya, Wisdom Osei Boamah, accusing him of diverting government-owned DRIP machines for private gain.

Speaking to Nana Frimpong Ziega on Kessben TV’s Digest, Malam Dauda claimed, the MCE allegedly ordered that the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines be operated privately to serve his personal interests instead of official government projects.

He further claimed that attempts to report the matter to the regional and national offices yielded no results, alleging that “people have godfathers,” making it difficult for complaints to be addressed.

Among the key allegations raised:
The MCE allegedly did not complete secondary school education and that makes him unqualified for the MCE office.

An alleged dismissal letter issued to the DRIP coordinator by the MCE was described as fake and invalid.

A transport officer reportedly indicated that GHS 3,000 was paid for the hiring of a tipper truck.

An individual identified as Ignatius Owusu was named as the machine operator who allegedly received payment of ghc 2,500 to work for the supposed client who in turn took a video of the process.

Malam Dauda also accused the MCE of engaging in galamsey activities and claimed he had acquired several vehicles.

He further alleged that government equipment was being moved into private yards and hired out to private individuals. According to him, they later persuaded the operator to work for them, during which payment was made via mobile money before the machine was brought to the designated field to operate.

The allegations have not yet been responded to by the MCE at the time of filing this report.
The claims are likely to heighten tensions within the municipality as residents await official clarification on the matter.
