One nuclear bomb fired can destroy the whole of Accra & Kumasi – Wofa Kofi Appiah outlines countries in the world that have nuclear weapons

Amid the sharply escalating conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran, international observers and commentators,  including geopolitical analyst Wofa Kofi Appiah, are spotlighting the role of nuclear-armed states in the crisis and broader world security dynamics.

The war, triggered when joint US-Israeli strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and targeted key military and suspected nuclear-related infrastructure, has now entered a fifth day with missile exchanges reported in Tehran, Jerusalem, Iraq, Kuwait and elsewhere. The fighting has prompted evacuations of diplomatic personnel and raised fears of a wider Middle East conflagration.

Appiah’s analysis underscores that only a small group of countries currently possess nuclear weapons,  a factor that many analysts say shapes how global powers engage in conflict and deterrence. According to international estimates, there are nine nuclear weapons states, including superpowers such as the United States, Russia and China etc,

The ongoing conflict has also drawn criticism from global powers. Russia has warned that the war could spur a regional nuclear arms race, as states in the Middle East reconsider their own security doctrines in response to the conflict.
