Albert Noble Quansah, a Ghanaian community leader in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has revealed that members of the Ghanaian community in Abu Dhabi are living in fear following reports of a bomb explosion in the city.
In a phone interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kessben Maakye today, Mr. Quansah said, the incident occurred while a group of Ghanaians had gathered at a restaurant when they suddenly heard a loud explosion.
“We were gathered in a restaurant and suddenly heard of a bomb explosion. They bombed Raisecaimu. Three people are reported dead, with several others injured,” he stated.
He further alleged that the attackers also targeted the Carifas building but missed their intended target.
Mr. Quansah said although no Ghanaian casualties have been reported, the atmosphere in Abu Dhabi remains tense.
“Ghanaians in Abu Dhabi are safe but scared. All normal movements and activities have come to a standstill. There is high tension in town currently,” he stressed.
The community leader noted that they are relying heavily on the Ghana Consulate for updates and guidance but have yet to receive any official communication from the Ghana Embassy.
“For now, we have not heard anything from the Embassy. In addition he said, they are connecting among themselves as Ghanaians to share information,” he added.
Mr. Quansah also claimed that the attack may be linked to escalating tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran, alleging that Iranian interests were responding to American and Israeli actions and targeting American assets worldwide.
He urged the Ghanaian media to highlight the situation and draw attention to the concerns of citizens abroad.
Additionally, he alleged that some Nigerian nationals are using Ghanaian passports to engage in illegal activities, a situation he believes could negatively affect law-abiding Ghanaians in the UAE.
