Ghana can never gain economic growth by neglecting Agriculture – Kwabena Owusu Dankwah (KOD)

Ghanaian media personality and Maakye co-host, Kwabena Owusu Dankwah (KOD), has stated that Ghana’s quest for sustainable economic growth will remain unattainable if the country continues to sideline agriculture.

Speaking on Kessben FM, KOD emphasised that agriculture must be treated as a central pillar of national development rather than a secondary sector. “Ghana can never gain economic growth by neglecting agriculture,” he said during the programme, urging policymakers to refocus attention on farming and agribusiness.

According to him, agriculture employs a substantial portion of Ghana’s workforce and has the potential to drive industrialisation through agro-processing and value addition. He argued that strengthening the sector would reduce food imports, stabilise prices, and create sustainable jobs for the youth.

KOD further called for increased government investment in irrigation, modern farming techniques, storage facilities, and access to affordable credit for farmers. He noted that prioritising agriculture would not only ensure food security but also boost exports and improve foreign exchange earnings.
