Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei had been living in an underground mansion. The US & Israel fired 30 precision bombs at his residence – Veteran Broadcaster Wofa Kofi Appiah details
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei has reportedly been killed in a major military operation involving the United States and Israel, according to Iranian state media and international sources.
The strikes, part of a broader campaign by U.S. and Israeli forces against Iran’s leadership and military infrastructure, hit multiple strategic targets in and around Tehran in the latest escalation of the Israel–U.S.–Iran conflict. Iranian authorities confirmed that the 86-year-old cleric who had ruled since 1989, died in the barrage of attacks. Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning following the incident.
Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster Wofa Kofi Appiah, speaking on Ghanaian media, described reports circulating on social platforms alleging that Khamenei had been living in an “underground mansion” and that U.S. and Israeli forces fired multiple precision strikes at his residence.
Wofa Kofi Appiah’s account underscores how swiftly unverified claims can spread amid the fog of war, even as international outlets focus on confirmed developments and the larger geopolitical ramifications.
The U.S. and Israel have framed their operation as targeting Iran’s military leadership and regime infrastructure, while Iran has condemned the strikes as illegal acts of aggression and vowed retaliation. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for revenge and warned of consequences following Khamenei’s death.
Global reactions are sharply divided, with some Western officials characterising Khamenei’s demise as a potential turning point in Middle East dynamics, and other world leaders condemning the attack as a dangerous violation of international norms.
