Never help others more than you help yourself, If you give others 10, give yourself 30 – Rev Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Rev. Vincent Kankam, has urged listeners to prioritize self-care and personal growth, warning against what he described as “self-betrayal” in the name of helping others.

Speaking on his program on Kessben FM, he explained that while generosity and service are noble virtues, they should not come at the expense of one’s mental health, finances, spiritual well-being, or personal development.

According to him, many people exhaust their time, energy, and resources supporting friends, family, and colleagues, yet neglect their own needs. He emphasized that sustained impact in the lives of others requires strength and stability within oneself first.

He clarified that his message was not promoting selfishness, but balance. He encouraged listeners to invest more deliberately in self-improvement, savings, education, rest, and spiritual growth. By doing so, he noted, individuals would be better equipped to support others meaningfully and consistently.

Rev. Kankam urged people to reassess their priorities: “Help others, yes, but never help others more than you help yourself.
