Residents of Akuapim and surrounding communities are set to benefit from improved healthcare access following the inauguration of the Great Kingdom Medical Center at Akropong Akuapim.

The facility was established by businessman Jonathan Amofa, Chief Executive Officer of the Kingdom Group of Companies, as part of efforts to expand quality medical diagnosis and treatment services in the enclave and beyond.

Speaking at the ceremony, special guest of honour Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen commended the initiative, describing it as a major private sector contribution to national development. He urged entrepreneurs locally and internationally to emulate the investment and called on government to create an enabling environment for private sector growth to reduce unemployment and improve healthcare delivery.

He also advised managers and beneficiaries of the facility to ensure proper maintenance and responsible use of the centre.

The Acting Medical Director, Evans A. Sefa, explained that the facility is unique among private medical centres because it combines orthodox medicine with traditional herbal services.

According to him, the 45 bed- capacity hospital provides a wide range of specialist services including eye care, E.N.T, cardiology, urology, gynaecology, antenatal and postnatal care, dental, dermatology, paediatric, plastic surgery and general healthcare delivery.

Also present at the event was the Chief of Amonokrom, who appealed for the creation of a community support fund to help the poor and elderly access healthcare services at the facility when necessary.

The new centre is expected to ease pressure on existing hospitals in the Akuapim area while expanding access to specialised medical care for residents.
