UPSA Introduces Four New Programmes

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has launched four new programs namely P.H.D in Public Policy and Leadership and it’s expanded statistics offering – BSC, MSC and Mphil in Applied Statistics.
The is aimed at training high level researchers and practioners in governance and also geared towards equipping leaders with analytical tools to enhance policy formulation, evidence – based decision- making and public sector management.
Speaking at the launch, the Vice – chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John K.M Mawutor said the program was introduced to address the need for evidence – based policy making in Ghana adding that, the new program will help shape emerging trends in nation building.
He said the University has put in place fervent preparation towards meetings that will culminate in the introduction of the PHD in public policy and leadership program on the premises of parliament to challenge parliamentarians to pursue.
Prof. John Mawutor further said the program was specifically developed for legislators and lectures from the university will go to the premises of the legislators to teach them, indicating that the gesture will nurture leaders in governance to enable contribute to the growth of the country.
According to him, the program will equip the university authorities to produce high – level researchers in governance and public policy, implement and evaluate policies and advance research that addresses issues relating to governance.
‘’The country needs policy makers in the areas of economics, finance, ethics, law with the requisite tools to design, implement to enhance institutional leadership across the public sector and Civil Society Organizations (CSOS) to spearhead developmental priorities and transformation agenda for Africa.
The PhD is a four-year course and brings to the fore a total of 69 fully accredited program currently operated by the university.
