Galamsey is a greater menace than LGBTQ – Kwasi Mensah

Political commentator Kwasi Mensah has stated that galamsey (illegal small-scale mining) poses a far greater threat to Ghana than issues surrounding LGBTQ rights.

Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Kwasi Mensah argued that the environmental destruction caused by galamsey has immediate and long-term consequences for the country.

He pointed to polluted rivers, degraded farmlands, and the loss of forest reserves as visible signs of what he described as a “national emergency.”

According to him, while social debates around LGBTQ matters often dominate public discourse, the devastating impact of illegal mining directly threatens food security, public health, and water supply. .
