First lady condemns baby theft at Mamprobi polyclinic, applauds Police for swift action

The First Lady, Her Excellency Lordina Mahama has condemned the recent theft of a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra, describing the incident as deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
In a statement issued by her office, Her Excellency expressed relief that the baby has been safely recovered and reunited with her biological mother and family.
She commended the Ghana Police Service for their swift and professional response, which led to the arrest of the suspect and ensured the safe return of the child.
The First Lady acknowledged the emotional difficulties faced by women and families struggling with infertility but stressed that such challenges must never justify criminal acts.
“While we empathise with those facing challenges with conception, desperation must never be allowed to lead to such unconscionable actions,” the statement emphasised.
She further urged medical facilities and maternity homes across the country to tighten security measures to better protect newborns and their mothers while under their care.
“The safety of every mother and child must be paramount,” she noted.
The First Lady also encouraged individuals and couples who wish to build families through adoption to follow the lawful process by engaging accredited adoption agencies and adhering strictly to established legal procedures.
