Executive Director for the Good Governance and Advocacy Group, Mr Listowell Kusi Poku. has called for the sack of Dr. Randy Abbey, the CEO of Cocobod, amidst the ongoing cocoa sector crisis.
Speaking to Kojo Preko Dankwah on Kessben Maakye, Mr Kusi Poku stated that the current cocoa sector crisis cannot only be blamed on the erstwhile NPP government but also on the actions and inactions of the current leadership of Cocobod.
According to him, the mess created by the erstwhile NPP in the cocoa sector was so dire that it needed serious reforms from its new management with the CEO, Dr. Randy Abbey failing to step up to the task. He claimed that Dr. Randy Abbey has no knowledge of the sector and therefore cannot continue to lead an organization he knows nothing about.
“Dr. Randy Abbey does not know anything about cocoa. He sees it just as a normal fruit. I can tell you on authority that he cannot tell the difference between cocoa and pawpaw’, he alleged.
However, Mr. Kusi Poku said that contrary to claims by several people that he has any personal interest due to his continuous criticism of Dr. Abbey and his leadership at COCOBOD, he is just a Ghanaian with the interest of Ghana and the cocoa farmers at heart and wishes to see a reformed cocoa sector.
