Cocobod Financial Struggles: It’s God who has punished Ato Forson and Randy Abbey – Hon. Andrews Bediako, the former MCE for Jaman South

Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jaman South, Hon. Andrews Bediako, has attributed the financial difficulties of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to what he described as poor leadership and divine retribution.

Speaking in an interview on Kessben FM with host Wofa Kofi Appiah, Hon. Bediako did not mince words as he reacted to ongoing discussions about COCOBOD’s financial struggles. According to him, the challenges facing the cocoa regulator reflect deeper governance issues.

In a strongly worded statement, he said, “It’s God who has punished Ato Forson and Randy Abbey,” suggesting that the current difficulties are a consequence of decisions taken by key figures associated with the sector. He further stated that Randy Abbey should “go back to GFA,” implying that his leadership would be better suited to football administration.

Hon. Bediako’s remarks add to the growing political debate surrounding COCOBOD’s financial health, which has been a matter of national concern given the cocoa sector’s critical role in Ghana’s economy. The institution has reportedly been grappling with debt pressures, operational costs, and concerns over producer pricing.
