Denyaseman Catholic SHS Appeals for Support After Rainstorm Damage

Story : Maurice Otoo

“Denyaseman Catholic Senior High School” in the Ashanti Region has renewed calls for urgent support following severe rainfall that exposed longstanding infrastructure challenges at the school.

Speaking on the situation, the senior house master, Mr. Osei Opoku-Danso, revealed in a zoom interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kessben Maakye today that , heavy rains last Saturday significantly affected the school by cramping down their classroom blocks, worsening existing structural concerns.

He noted that despite the school’s growing population, there has been no major government intervention since 2010 that they gained “Government Assisted” status.

According to him, the Headmaster proposed a fundraising exercise scheduled for February 27, 2026 before the disaster, aimed at mobilising resources to address critical infrastructure needs.

He disclosed that although the recent downpour began around 7 pm amid light out ,no casualties were recorded.

However, the incident has forced management to rotate students within the existing structures to accommodate them safely.

Mr. Opoku-Danso emphasized that irrespective of the recent incident, the planned fundraising initiative will go ahead to solicit funds for much-needed development projects.

He further lamented that the school is often left out in the disbursement of funds for major infrastructure developments, a situation he believes has contributed to its current challenges.

The school is therefore appealing to stakeholders, old students, philanthropists and government agencies to come to its aid to improve facilities and ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
