NPP left $1.8 Billion profit at COCOBOD, Randy Abbey should focus on paying farmers – Kennedy Mintah

Kennedy Mintah, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team, has taken a swipe at Randy Abbey, calling on him to balance his commentary on COCOBOD’s finances.

Speaking on Kessben Maakye, Mintah claimed that the previous NPP government left a profit of about $1.8 billion at COCOBOD, contrary to narratives that focus solely on debt.

According to Mintah, discussions about COCOBOD should not be limited to liabilities alone, but must also acknowledge the financial gains made under the NPP administration. He argued that with such resources, priority should be given to paying cocoa farmers promptly, rather than dwelling excessively on inherited debts.

Mintah stressed that cocoa farmers remain the backbone of Ghana’s cocoa industry and deserve timely compensation for their hard work.

He urged current managers of COCOBOD to channel available funds toward farmer welfare and productivity, instead of engaging in what he described as selective public commentary.
