The campaign manager for Baba Jamal’s campaign team, Baba Alhaji has dismissed allegations of vote buying leveled against him during recent party activities, describing the claims as misleading and unfounded.
According to him, their campaign strategy was activated immediately after they lost the party’s previous primaries, adding that Baba Jamal has lived with his family in Nima 441 for the past seven years, remaining actively involved in party work throughout that period.
Baba Alhaji stated that his candidate has consistently participated in all party activities and initiated several empowerment interventions, including an interest-free loan scheme targeted at women executives and spouses of male constituency executives to support small-scale economic activities.
He explained that beneficiaries of the initiative received amounts ranging between GH₵2,000 and GH₵5,000 to help them improve their livelihoods.
Addressing claims that he shared television sets with delegates during party primaries Baba Alhaji denied the allegation, stressing that as a candidate he never shared TVs or other items with delegates, except contributing funds jointly agreed upon by all candidates to support delegate transportation.
He clarified that the television sets seen at the event grounds were provided by friends from Akwatia who intended supprising the candidate and upon noticing them, he promptly ordered their removal, citing his experience and commitment to ethical political conduct.
Baba Alhaji further argued that claims suggesting TV sets could influence voter decisions are weak, especially when compared to instances where other candidates allegedly distributed cash in dollars and motorbikes which he believes posed a far greater risk of influencing voters.
Highlighting his social interventions, he noted that ahead of the 2024 general elections, he personally distributed about 150 sewing machines and hair dryers to young people interested in learning vocational skills, describing the initiative as part of his long-standing philanthropic and pro-youth empowerment efforts.
He maintained that his actions were motivated by community development and skills training rather than electoral inducement, and reiterated his commitment to clean and issue-based politics.
