Many conflicts at the workplace, home, school etc are born out of misunderstanding, let’s learn to understand before we reply – Rev Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Many of the conflicts we see in homes, workplaces, communities, and even nations are not caused by hatred or bad intentions, but by misunderstanding.

This was the thoughtful observation made by Rev. Vincent Kankam on his show on Kessben FM, where he urged people to learn the art of understanding before reacting.

According to him, people are often too quick to reply, argue, or fight without first taking time to understand what the other person truly means. Words are misinterpreted, tones are misunderstood, and assumptions are made, turning small issues into serious confrontations. In many cases, if both sides paused to listen and seek clarity, the conflict would never arise.

Rev. Kankam emphasized that understanding requires patience, humility, and empathy. It means listening not just to respond, but to comprehend. When people make the effort to understand each other’s perspectives, anger reduces, respect grows, and peace becomes possible.

He encouraged listeners to slow down in their responses, ask questions when in doubt, and choose dialogue over confrontation. In a world filled with tension, learning to understand before replying could be the simple key to reducing unnecessary fights and building stronger relationships.
