NPP’s biggest mistake will be changing Bawumia for a new candidate in the 2028 general elections – Hon. Asenso Boakye

Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against changing its presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections, describing such a move as the party’s biggest mistake.

Speaking on Kessben FM, the Member of Parliament said the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, remains the NPP’s strongest option going into the next election cycle.

He argued that replacing Dr. Bawumia with a new candidate could undermine the party’s continuity, credibility, and long-term strategy, especially after years of investing in his leadership and national profile.

Hon. Asenso-Boakye emphasized that political success requires consistency and trust in experienced leadership, noting that frequent changes at the top could confuse voters and weaken party unity.
