Kuffour and Akufo-Addo all attempted first and lost, so why not Bawumia? – Oforikrom MP Hon. Kwasi Baido declares full support for Bawumia
The Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Hon. Kwasi Baido, has thrown his weight behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, urging supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain confident in his leadership prospects.
Speaking on Kessben FM with KOD, the MP drew historical parallels to strengthen his argument, noting that both former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo contested elections before winning power. According to him, losing an initial attempt did not disqualify them; instead, it prepared them for eventual victory.
“Kufuor tried and lost, Akufo-Addo tried and lost, so why not Bawumia?” Hon. Kwasi Baido asked rhetorically, emphasizing that perseverance has always been part of the NPP’s political journey.
He described Dr. Bawumia as a capable and experienced leader who has learned from past challenges and is well-positioned to guide the party forward. The MP stressed that continuity, experience, and belief in the party’s traditions are key to future success.
