Being good with English & Maths in school doesn’t guarantee success in real life – Rev Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Rev. Vincent Kankam has challenged this widely held belief, stating on his show on Kessben FM that academic brilliance alone does not guarantee success in the real world.
Excelling in English and Mathematics in school is often viewed as a sure sign of future success. Students who perform well in these subjects are praised, admired, and expected to achieve great things in life.
According to Rev. Kankam, many students who were considered average during their school days are today doing better in life than some of their peers who excelled in English and Maths. Success beyond school depends on much more than exam results. Traits such as determination, creativity, discipline, adaptability, and the willingness to learn from failure often play a greater role in shaping one’s future.
The real world values practical skills, innovation, and problem-solving abilities. Some people discover their strengths later in life, while others thrive in business, craftsmanship, leadership, or creative industries where academic grades are not the main measure of potential.
He called on parents, teachers, and society not to discourage average students. Every individual has unique abilities, and with the right support and motivation, average students can rise to achieve extraordinary success.
He said academic performance is important, but it should never be used as the sole measure of a person’s future potential.
