Parliament has approved the specialized court for Galamsey, and prosecution will soon begin – Mahmud Kabore

Mahmud Kabore, spokesperson for the Minister of Natural Resources, has announced that Parliament has approved the establishment of a specialized court to handle cases related to illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking on Kessben FM during an interview with KOD, Kabore said the approval paves the way for swift prosecution of offenders, with legal processes expected to begin soon. According to him, the specialized court will focus exclusively on galamsey-related cases to ensure faster trials and stronger enforcement of mining laws.
He explained that the move forms part of government’s broader strategy to combat illegal mining, protect the environment, and safeguard the country’s natural resources. Kabore expressed confidence that the court will serve as a strong deterrent and demonstrate the state’s commitment to ending galamsey.
