Truth has finished in Ghana, Parliamentarians are supposed to push for what will help the nation, not what will help their parties – Elder Agyenim Kwaku Boateng

Elder Agyenim Kwaku Boateng, a lecturer at the Presbyterian University of Ghana, has hit on a sobering critique of Ghana’s political landscape.
Speaking on Kessben FM with KOD, Elder Boateng lamented what he described as a crisis of truth and integrity in Ghana.
He asserted that the pursuit of partisan interests has overshadowed the common good in national decision-making, leaving citizens disillusioned and eroding public confidence in democratic institutions.
According to Boateng, parliamentarians should prioritise what benefits the nation as a whole rather than solely advancing the agendas of their political parties.
He argued that the essence of representative leadership lies in placing national welfare above party loyalty and sectional gains, a principle he believes is currently lacking in Ghana’s political discourse.
He called on lawmakers and political actors to re-embrace truth, transparency, and service to the people as foundational to the nation’s development and democratic maturity.
