President Mahama’s Action on Journalist Assault Case Receives Praise from The Class Media Group

The CEO of the Class Media Group, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for interdicting Ghana National Fire Service officers involved in the assault of journalist Samuel Addo at the Kasoa New Market.
In a statement, Agongo commended President Mahama’s prompt action, saying it underscores the government’s commitment to media freedom and accountability within security services. “This incident was despicable and unacceptable. It is not just about one journalist, it is about safeguarding the integrity of our institutions and the reputation of the Ghana National Fire Service,” Agongo said.
Agongo expressed confidence that the government and investigative bodies would ensure justice is served and reforms implemented to guarantee journalist safety and security service credibility. The Class Media Group offered support for the process through dialogue, advocacy, and initiatives.
The assault on Samuel Addo sparked concerns about press freedom and security service conduct. President Mahama’s action has been seen as a positive step towards addressing these concerns.
