Mahama Marks One Year in Office With National Thanksgiving Service Today

President John Dramani Mahama will today, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, commemorate his first anniversary in office with a Non-Denominational National Thanksgiving Service at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House in Accra.

The event, which begins at 8:00 a.m., is expected to draw religious leaders, government officials, members of the diplomatic community, and invited guests. It will serve as a moment of reflection on the administration’s first year in office and the collective journey of the nation over the period.

Held under the theme “Resetting. Rebuilding. Renewing.”, the service is intended to express gratitude for the country’s stability during the past year while reaffirming government’s commitment to renewal, inclusivity, and responsive governance.

According to the Presidency, the Thanksgiving Service also forms part of a series of activities marking President Mahama’s first anniversary since assuming office. The occasion is expected to highlight national unity, spiritual reflection, and a renewed pledge to deepen development efforts as the administration enters its second year.

President Mahama was sworn into office on January 7, 2025, following his election victory. Over the past year, his government has emphasized economic recovery, infrastructure renewal, social welfare, and institutional reforms as key pillars of national rebuilding.

Today’s Thanksgiving Service is expected to feature prayers, music, and messages of hope from clerics across different faiths, symbolizing the country’s religious diversity and commitment to peace.
