Our legends are not well appreciated – DJ KA reacts to the death of Highlife Icon Aseibu Menfi

Popular radio presenter DJ KA has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Highlife legend Aseibu Menfi, using the moment to highlight what he describes as Ghana’s poor treatment of its music legends.

Speaking emotionally on his show on Kessben FM, DJ KA lamented that many pioneers of Ghanaian music are celebrated only after their passing, rather than being supported while they are alive. According to him, Aseibu Menfi’s situation reflects a broader problem within the creative industry.

DJ KA revealed that he and his team had previously made efforts to support the late Highlife musician. However, he claimed their attempts were met with discouragement from sections of the public, which eventually slowed down their efforts.”

He stressed that Ghana must do better in preserving the welfare and legacy of its cultural icons, especially musicians who laid the foundation for today’s entertainment industry. DJ KA called on industry players, fans, and institutions to show more respect, recognition, and tangible support for veteran artists.
