NPP’s loss of 2024 elections: Parliamentary candidates were given resources to campaign, yet lost, that is not the fault of Bawumia – Thomas Owusu Ansah

Former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ahafo Ano South East, Hon. Thomas Owusu Ansah, has dismissed claims that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should be blamed for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on Kessben FM during a discussion with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Hon. Owusu Ansah emphasized that many NPP parliamentary candidates were adequately resourced for their campaigns but still failed to retain or win their seats. According to him, this clearly shows that the party’s defeat cannot be attributed to Dr. Bawumia alone.
He explained that electoral losses often stem from constituency-level challenges, voter sentiment, and individual candidate performance, noting that presidential candidates should not be held responsible for parliamentary outcomes where candidates had the necessary logistical and financial support.
Hon. Owusu Ansah urged party members to avoid unfair accusations and instead engage in sincere evaluation of both national and grassroots strategies, stressing that rebuilding the NPP requires honesty, unity, and accountability at all levels.
