Gomoa Nyanyano: Two Injured as Rival Factions Clash in Chieftaincy Dispute — Police Secure Township

Story by: Mireku Nyanpong

Two people have been injured following violent clashes between two rival factions in an ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The incident occurred in front of the Gomoa Nyanyano Chief’s palace, prompting a swift security response. Personnel from the Central East Regional Police Command have since taken control of the township to restore calm.

Gomoa Nyanyano has been embroiled in chieftaincy disagreements for several years, particularly after the death of Nana Obeng Wiabo. Tensions reportedly escalated when one faction decided to organise a float through the community. Members of the opposing faction allegedly mobilised and blocked the main road to prevent the procession, resulting in the clashes.

Police sources confirm that more than 100 officers and other security personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
