Kwabenya District MTTD & Atomic Junction Drivers Union team up for a safer ride

The Kwabenya District Motor Traffic and Transport Department has held a road safety conference with the Atomic Junction Drivers Union as part of efforts to promote safer road use and reduce road traffic crashes.
The conference was held on Sunday, 21st December 2025, at exactly at the union’s station under the union office pavilion. Union executives and several drivers were present for the engagement.
During the conference, officers highlighted several road safety issues from both legal and practical perspectives. Discussions covered driver, passenger, and pedestrian safety, as well as the importance of effective vehicle maintenance and the need for authentic and valid vehicle documentation. Participants were also reminded of the need for strict compliance with road traffic rules and regulations, proper driving conduct in line with road standards, and heightened awareness of potential road hazards.
Drivers were sensitised on the importance of diligent and responsible driving at all times to avoid crashes, maintain safety and sanity on public roads, reduce the recent rise in road traffic fatalities, and protect lives and property.
The programme featured a one-hour continuous lecture, after which the floor was opened for questions, comments, and the sharing of experiences with traffic officers. The interaction became lively and friendly, with participants actively contributing to discussions.
The high level of participation made the session both educative and engaging, prompting the union executives to request that the programme be paused and continued at a later date.
