NPP Flagbearership race: Bawumia’s competitors must not be wasting money campaigning, the NPP will need that money for the main elections – Hon Kwadwo Banahene Bediako

Hon. Kwadwo Banahene Bediako, former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Central, has urged contestants in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race to exercise restraint in their campaign spending.
Speaking on Kessben FM, he argued that excessive expenditure during the internal contest could weaken the party’s financial readiness for the crucial 2028 general elections.
According to Hon. Bediako, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s position within the party places him in a strong standing, making aggressive and costly campaigning by other aspirants unnecessary.
He stressed that the NPP would need substantial resources to mount an effective national campaign against the opposition, and squandering funds at the primary stage could be detrimental to the party’s broader electoral ambitions.
He therefore called on party stakeholders and aspirants to prioritize unity and strategic planning over lavish internal campaigns, emphasizing that the ultimate goal should be securing victory in 2028. Hon. Bediako noted that a united and well-resourced NPP would be better positioned to retain power and deliver on its development agenda.
