NDC people, you already have the numbers in Parliament, What again about this push for a rerun at Kpandai? – KT Hammond

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP Kobina Tahir Hammond (KT Hammond) has weighed in on the debate over the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s parliamentary strength and the ongoing Kpandai parliamentary election rerun controversy.
On the Kpandai issue, Hammond asserted that a rerun might not happen as scheduled on December 30, 2025, pointing to ongoing legal actions by the NPP. According to his comments, the party has filed an appeal and a stay of execution with the Supreme Court against the Tamale High Court ruling that annulled the 2024 election results and ordered a fresh poll, meaning the rerun might be put on hold pending judicial determination
This stance comes amid a highly contested atmosphere in Parliament, where some Minority lawmakers have challenged the procedural steps taken to declare the Kpandai seat vacant following the High Court’s decision. The Minority argues that declaring the seat vacant and forwarding notice to the Electoral Commission (EC) was premature and unlawful while appeals are pending.
The EC has nonetheless fixed December 30, 2025 for the Kpandai by-election, following the vacancy notification, with only the three original contenders from the 2024 election eligible to contest.
