NDC Government has deceived Ghanaians on Galamsey – Nana Adjei Perez

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Communication Team, Nana Adjei Perez, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of deceiving Ghanaians over its commitment to ending galamsey.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Nana Adjei Perez alleged that illegal mining activities continue to persist despite repeated assurances from the NDC administration. He further claimed that since the NDC took office, more water bodies across the country have been destroyed, worsening environmental degradation and threatening access to clean water.

“The NDC government has deceived Ghanaians with galamsey. It is still persisting, and more of our water bodies have been destroyed since they took office,” he stated.

According to him, the ongoing destruction of rivers and streams is affecting communities that depend on these water sources for domestic use, farming, and other economic activities. He argued that the government’s approach has lacked the firmness and consistency needed to deal with the menace effectively.

Nana Adjei Perez called on the NDC government to move beyond public statements and demonstrate real political will by strictly enforcing mining laws and holding all those involved in illegal mining accountable, irrespective of political affiliation.
