GSFP Rolls Out Nationwide Practical Training for School Feeding Caterers

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has commenced a nationwide practical training programme for caterers and head cooks in all beneficiary schools across the country, as part of sustained efforts to improve the quality, safety and nutritional value of meals served to pupils.

The initiative, which covers all sixteen (16) regions, is being implemented with the support of key stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Women in Agricultural Development (WIAD) Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

The training places strong emphasis on nutrition, hygiene, food safety and best practices in meal preparation, with the aim of equipping caterers with both the knowledge and hands-on skills required to consistently provide safe, nutritious and high-quality meals to schoolchildren.

To ensure effective coordination and nationwide reach, the country has been zoned into Southern, Middle and Northern belts, with training sessions taking place at eighty-two (82) designated centres nationwide.

The practical training programme officially commenced on December 15, 2025, and is currently underway in the Bono, Volta and Oti Regions, with other regions expected to follow according to schedule.

The GSFP says the exercise underscores its commitment to strengthening service delivery under the programme and safeguarding the health and well-being of pupils in beneficiary schools across the country.
