Akufo-Addo does not define the NPP: He’s not the one who formed the NPP party, so whether I dislike him or not, & so what? – Dr Richard Anane

Former Health Minister, Dr. Richard Anane, has stated that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should not be seen as the embodiment of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that the party’s identity goes beyond any single individual.
Speaking on Kessben TV, Dr. Anane noted that Akufo-Addo was not the founder of the NPP and therefore personal feelings, whether admiration or dislike, towards him should not determine one’s attitude toward the party.
He argued that political parties are built on long-standing traditions, ideologies, and collective efforts, not on the actions or personalities of one leader.
According to Dr. Anane, it is misguided for supporters or critics to equate the successes or failures of an administration solely with the existence or future of the NPP. He urged party members and the general public to separate individual leadership from the broader values and history of the party.
He emphasized that democracy thrives when citizens focus on institutions and principles rather than personalities.
