NDC Government should not use its absolute control in Parliament to abuse power – Dr. Simon Boateng

Lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Dr Simon Boateng has cautioned the NDC government against using their firm control in Parliament to push through decisions that may not serve the best interests of Ghanaians.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Dr. Boateng stressed that political dominance must come with responsibility, fairness, and respect for democratic principles.

He noted that having numerical strength in Parliament should not give any government the license to override dissenting views or sideline minority voices. According to him, healthy debate and checks and balances are crucial for good governance, transparency, and national development.

Dr. Boateng warned that when a ruling government uses its majority to force policies without proper scrutiny, it risks creating public mistrust and weakening democratic institutions.

He urged the NDC administration to prioritize national interest over political convenience and to ensure that Parliament remains a space for constructive dialogue.
