Ministry of Interior Launches Digital Services Portal, Enhancing Citizen Access and National Security

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Mohamed Mubarak Muntaka, has launched the Ministry’s Online Digital Services Portal, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s digital transformation agenda. The portal, launched on December 10, 2025, provides digital access to various services, including citizenship and migration services, security and regulatory services, and specialized services such as exportation of dead bodies.

The digitalization of these services is expected to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability, while enhancing national security and revenue assurance. The portal’s features include real-time tracking, secure document submission, and automated payments. This move is part of the government’s efforts to modernize public services and create a more responsive, citizen-centered service environment.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Muntaka emphasized the importance of digitalization in national development, stating that the portal will improve service delivery, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen citizen engagement. “The portal will provide seamless communication between citizens and the ministry, reducing bureaucracy and promoting transparency,” he said.

The launch of the portal aligns with the government’s vision of creating an inclusive digital economy, where public services are accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of every Ghanaian. The Ministry of Interior’s digital transformation is expected to drive national development, improve national security, public safety, and protect citizens’ rights.

According to Minister Muntaka, the Ministry will no longer accept manual transactions after December 15, 2025, as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and transparency. “We expect all citizens to take advantage of this new platform to access our services,” he added.

The portal will provide citizens with convenient access to various services, including immigrant quota permits, renunciation of Ghanaian citizenship, dual nationality/citizenship applications, registration as a citizen of Ghana, naturalization as a citizen of Ghana, and registration of a minor as a citizen of Ghana.

Additionally, the portal will offer security and regulatory services such as licensing of private security organizations, permission to import or export explosives, permit to import or export arms and ammunition, permit to import and license firearm (pistol), granting of auctioneer’s licenses, and permit for key cutting.

The digitalization of these services is expected to enhance transparency, standardize compliance procedures, and strengthen national monitoring mechanisms. The Ministry of Interior’s digital transformation is a significant step towards achieving the government’s vision of a digitally empowered nation.

The launch of the portal has been welcomed by citizens and stakeholders, who believe it will contribute significantly to Ghana’s transformation into a digitally driven economy. The portal will be accessible to the public effective December 15, 2025, and is expected to improve the overall efficiency of the Ministry’s operations.

The Ministry of Interior’s digitalization drive is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize public services and create a more responsive, citizen-centered service environment. The government is committed to leveraging technology to improve service delivery, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen citizen engagement.

As Ghana continues to drive its digital transformation agenda, the launch of the Ministry of Interior’s Online Digital Services Portal serves as a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards a digitally empowered nation.
