Drivers charging any fare they want & more: People are becoming hopeless under the NDC Government – Dr. Simon Boateng

Dr. Simon Boateng, a lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has expressed deep concern about the growing sense of hopelessness among Ghanaians under the current NDC government. Speaking in an interview on Kessben FM, Dr. Boateng stated that ordinary citizens are increasingly frustrated as the cost of living continues to rise without relief in sight.

According to him, prices of goods and services remain unbearably high despite government assurances of economic improvement. He noted that market prices have become unpredictable, with basic commodities now out of reach for many households. This, he said, is eroding public confidence and creating fear about the future.

Dr. Boateng further highlighted the burden placed on commuters as commercial drivers continue to charge what he described as “exorbitant fares.” With transportation costs rising steadily, he argued that workers, students, and low-income earners are the hardest hit, as their daily expenses have nearly doubled.

He called on the government to take urgent steps to stabilize the economy, reduce inflation, and implement policies that offer real relief to citizens. Without decisive action, Dr. Boateng warned, the growing frustration and hopelessness could have long-term social and economic implications.
