NPP Condemns Secret Government WhatsApp Group Aimed at Sabotaging OSP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed strong condemnation over the existence of a secret government WhatsApp group allegedly aimed at sabotaging the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). According to Henry Nana Boakye, National Organizer of the NPP, the group includes officers from the OSP, security institutions, representatives from the Supreme Court, journalists, and civil society organizations (CSOs).
Speaking on Joy FM’s “News File” program on December 6, 2025, Nana Boakye revealed that the Director of Communication Strategy Research at the OSP had disclosed the existence of the WhatsApp group, which he described as “unacceptable” and a clear attempt to undermine the work of the OSP.
“The NPP is appalled by the revelation of a secret WhatsApp group involving OSP officers and other stakeholders with the sole aim of sabotaging the OSP,” Nana Boakye said. “This is a clear indication that there are individuals within the system who are determined to undermine the efforts of the OSP in fighting corruption.”
The NPP is calling for an immediate audit to determine whether confidential materials have been shared outside authorized channels and for administrative or legal action to be taken against those involved in the group.
“We demand a thorough investigation into this matter to identify those responsible and ensure that they are held accountable,” Nana Boakye said. “The people of Ghana deserve to know the truth about this secret group and its intentions.”
The OSP has been at the forefront of investigating and prosecuting corruption cases in Ghana, and the NPP believes that the existence of such a group is a clear attempt to derail its efforts.
“This is not just an attack on the OSP, but an attack on the very fabric of our democracy,” Nana Boakye said. “We will not stand idly by and watch as individuals with vested interests seek to undermine the institutions that are meant to serve the people.”
The NPP has called on the government to take immediate action to address the situation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
“We urge the government to take this matter seriously and take necessary action to protect the integrity of the OSP and other institutions involved,” Nana Boakye said. “The people of Ghana will not tolerate any attempts to undermine the fight against corruption.”
