Atiwa West DCE Warn Galamseyers , Hints Assembly’s Mandated Task Force Will Go After Them

The Atiwa west district chief executive in the eastern region, Hon Johnson Anom Amo is sending a very strong warning to people who engage in illegal mining ( galamsey ) activities in the district to park off all their mining equipment from the site to avoid being arrested by the District assembly’s task force team. According to Hon Amo the assembly’s mandated task force team which is made up of the Police, the NIB, Immigration, NADMO , official from the minerals commission and the blue water guards with the backing of he the DCE is very much prepared to face and clamp down on illegal miners who without fear operates with impunity. According to Hon Johnson Anom Amo the assembly’s task force from time to time moves in to make sure galamseyers do not find their ways in the forest reserves , on the river bodies found in the Atiwa west district. He further disclosed to the Herald newspaper that so far 22 small scale miners with genuine documentations from minerals commission and other state agencies responsible for mining regulatory have been registered with the district assembly with duly recognition and their operational activities being monitored by the assembly to ensure they do the right thing by mining responsibly . The Atiwa west DCE further indicated to this paper that as far he remains in office he will not allow anybody or groups to delve into the forest reserves in the Atiwa west to mine within or mine on the river bodies and cause destruction to the environment and the task force team made up of the members of the District Security Council ( DISEC ) are ever ready to match them. Hon Johnson Anom Amo used the opportunity to advice miners in the Atiwa west district to comply with the government’s directive of responsible mining by doing the right thing so that they do not fall victim to the assembly’s mandated task force team.
