Amenfi Central Celebrates 41st Farmers’ Day with Renewed Government Commitments

The Amenfi Central District in Ghana has celebrated its hardworking farmers with a colourful Farmers’ Day event, honouring their resilience and critical role in sustaining the country’s food systems.
Local authorities praised the farmers’ dedication, with Member of Parliament, Honourable Joana Gyan Cudjoe, announcing government assurances for infrastructure development, including electricity, internet connectivity, schools, hospitals, and CHPS compounds.
Major road projects are underway, including the Bordie to Asankragua Road (50km) and the Asankragua to Bekwai Road (53km), expected to ease transportation challenges and reduce post-harvest losses.
The MP also highlighted efforts to address community challenges, such as boreholes and potable water systems, and urged farmers to participate in government programmes, including the “Akuko Nkitin Nkiti” initiative.
District Chief Executive, Hon. Peter Amponsah, encouraged farmers to register for the initiative, aimed at expanding poultry production and empowering households through small livestock projects.
Outstanding farmers were recognised, with Anthony Boaky Saka from Amuni Sakakrom named Overall Best Farmer for his innovation, productivity, and commitment to modern agricultural practices.
Leaders urged the community to support farmers, emphasizing their essential role in national development, food security, and economic resilience.
