Goldbod Launches E-commerce Platform to Enhance Value Addition Drive

The Ghana Gold Board, through its subsidiary, The Goldbod Jewelry has today launched a 24 hour e-commerce website for the marketing and sale of 100% pure gold jewelry. This is in line with its core mandate of transforming Ghana’s gold sector by moving from raw gold exports to state of the art locally crafted jewelry, as well as investment- grade products.
The 24hour e-commerce website, www.jewelry.goldod.org.gh, is a digital storefront for the Goldbod to showcase highly crafted Ghana- made gold jewelry. The platform gives consumers the option to browse through the collection, track prices and make online purchases using mobile money, bank cards and other payment options.
These gold jewelry items include locally made rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches and other high value jewelry products. The Goldbod jewellry also has a buy back option where jewelry can be kept by consumers and sold to the jewelry at a later date.
The Goldbod jewellry, formerly PMMC Jewelry is the value addition element of the Ghana Gold Board. Established in 2016, it is tasked with the primary mandate of transforming the gold sector and ensuring that gold leaves the shores of Ghana as a finished product.
Speaking at a press
conference held at the GoldBod office in Accra today the 27th day of November, 2025, the Managing Director of the GoldBod Jewelry, Gertrude Emefa Donkor reiterated that Ghana is the largest gold producer in Africa and thus its important to break the cycle of importing finished gold jewelry.
“We are moving from exporting raw gold to exporting finished excellence, she stated. Our artisans can match global quality. Every piece crafted here is not just jewelry; it is Ghanaian skill, creativity and pride.”
Earlier this year, the Goldbod jewelry introduced the Jewelry Tablet, an investment opportunity for Ghanaians and the general public to buy gold tablets for safe keeping to be resold at a later date when the price appreciates.
According to the Managing Director, the online platform is a bold step by the Goldbod Jewelry to make Ghana a giant in the precious metals market. It will also serve as a source of foreign exchange, employment and hope for Ghanaians, especially those in the precious metals value chain. “ Every cedi and dollar spent on Ghanaian gold strengthens our economy, supports artisans and builds a legacy for future generations”, she said.
With seven showrooms in Accra and Kumasi, the Goldbod Jewelry aims to expand to several cities in Ghana and beyond. In this regard, Ms. Donkor urged the media to support the cause by spreading the message across the country and beyond.
“ Gold is not just a product; it is a legacy and that legacy must benefit Ghana.”
