Ghanaian Travelers Left Stranded as ITA Airways and KLM Cancel Flights

Ghanaian passengers are venting their frustration and disappointment after ITA Airways and KLM cancelled several flights, leaving many stranded at the airport without adequate support or accommodation.
Hanson Dartey, who was scheduled to travel on KLM flight 590, received late notification of the cancellation and is among those affected. “They keep on frustrating Ghanaians,” Dartey said. “You come here, they cancel the flight without better notification… it’s very bad.”
Another passenger, who wished to remain anonymous, shared a similar experience with an ITA Airways flight to Italy. “He came, and they said the flight had been canceled while the guy doesn’t have anywhere to sleep, and there’s no other information,” the passenger said.
One passenger was told to call Italy or Spain to resolve the issue, despite it being outside office hours. The cancellations have left many travelers stranded, with limited options for accommodation.
Passengers are demanding better service and support from ITA Airways and KLM. “We are calling the attention of the Minister of Aviation to make good deals with flights flying to Ghana,” said one passenger. “Besides, we also call on the same minister to make sure Ghanaians enjoy the same rights as people in Europe and other continents enjoy.”
The cancellation of KLM 590, which flies to Ghana, is particularly concerning, with some passengers suggesting that the government should investigate whether there are technical problems with the flight. “There must be a proper investigation before it causes any accident,” said one passenger.
The cancellations have also raised concerns about the attitudes of KLM staff towards customers, with some passengers describing their behavior as “unwelcome”.
The Ghanaian government has been urged to take action to address the issue and ensure that passengers receive the support they need.
