Education in Mankranso: MP for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Elvis Mensah Dapaah, set to complete a house for teachers
The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, has outlined significant steps he has taken to improve education in the constituency since assuming office.
Speaking on Kessben FM with host KOD, the MP revealed that the constituency faced a severe teacher deficit when he took over.
According to Hon. Dapaah, “The constituency lacked 230 teachers when I took over as MP.” He noted that this shortfall affected teaching quality, school performance, and overall access to education, especially in rural communities.
He stated that through persistent engagement with educational authorities and personal interventions, the teacher gap has now been “substantially bridged.” To further support the local schools, the MP disclosed that he currently pays the salaries of five teachers from his own resources to ensure that no classroom is left without a teacher.
In addition, Hon. Dapaah announced that he is constructing a residential facility to house teachers posted to the area. The initiative, he said, is intended to motivate educators, reduce accommodation challenges, and improve retention in the constituency.
“I’m completing a house for them to live in” he added, emphasizing his commitment to improving education infrastructure and the welfare of teachers.
The MP reiterated that quality education remains a top priority for his office and assured constituents that further interventions are underway to strengthen the learning environment in Ahafo Ano South West.
