After 10 months of NDC, they do not have a single policy bigger than Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS policy – Dr Simon Boateng

Dr. Simon Boateng, lecturer and Deputy Secretary of the NPP Atwima Nwabiagya Constituency, has asserted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, after ten months in office, has not introduced any policy that matches the scale or national impact of former President Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme.
Speaking on Kessben TV with host KOD, Dr. Boateng described Free SHS as a “generational social intervention” that fundamentally expanded access to secondary education across Ghana.
He argued that despite the NDC’s promises and ongoing policy reviews, none of the government’s initiatives so far equal the magnitude of Free SHS in terms of national reach, social transformation, or long-term developmental value.
Dr. Boateng stated that Ghanaians expected a major flagship programme early in the new administration’s tenure, but “after nearly a year, we are yet to see any policy that comes close.” He maintained that the benchmark set by the Free SHS policy remains unmatched.
He further encouraged the NDC government to introduce bold, high-impact interventions that can drive sustainable development and significantly improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
