Women protest at Kumasi prisons over arrest of men in EPA attack case

Aggrieved women from Dadwene in the Adansi North district, Ashanti Region, have stormed the Kumasi Central Prison to demand the release of their menfolk arrested in connection with recent attacks on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials.

The joint police-military team arrested 372 suspects in the operation. The Kumasi High Court remanded them for two weeks. The women claim their men are innocent and were mistakenly swept up in the operation.

Opinion leaders appealed to the government to release the men, stating they are not part of the attacks. The community is tense, with women and children mostly left behind.

Authorities are urged to conduct a more targeted operation to avoid catching innocent people.
