GREAT NEWS: Education Minister elevates Mankranso SHS from category C school to category B school following impressive NSMQ showing
Ghana’s Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that Mankranso Senior High School will be upgraded from a Category C to Category B school, in recognition of its stellar performance at the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Speaking at a media briefing, Minister Iddrisu praised the students for outperforming expectations despite limited resources, calling their success a national achievement.
He said the move is part of a broader government plan to reclassify 10 Category C schools to Category B, and 10 Category B schools to Category A, a shift backed by additional investment in infrastructure such as classrooms, dormitories, and teaching materials.
Mankranso’s performance at this year’s NSMQ was nothing short of dramatic.
Their progression to the semifinals was celebrated as a symbolic triumph over infrastructural and financial challenges.
Beyond the reclassification, Minister Iddrisu committed to further support for Mankranso SHS, including infrastructure improvements to sustain and accelerate its newfound academic success.
