Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik secures Nursing Training School for constituency, Project set to be completed in 2 years – Details

Hon. Abubakar Sedik, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, has announced a landmark development for his constituency: the construction of a nursing training school, in partnership with an international non-governmental organization (NGO).

Speaking on Kessben FM, he revealed that his district has been selected by the NGO for this project, which is expected to begin next year.

According to the DCE, the initiative will take about two years to complete, during which the NGO will work closely with the District Assembly to bring the vision to fruition. This move aligns with his broader development agenda, particularly in strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the district. Earlier, he pledged to upgrade CHPS compounds and renovate existing health facilities to improve access to quality care.

On the education front, the nursing school is expected to create opportunities for local youth, especially high school graduates who aspire to become healthcare professionals. In recent months, DCE Abubakar Sedik has shown commitment to education through other actions: for example, he donated ₵10,000 to Mankranso SHS after their success in the National Science & Maths Quiz, pledging further to refurbish the school’s laboratory.

The Ahafo Ano South West District has a population of around 65,770. The establishment of a nursing training college could therefore be transformative, not only for healthcare delivery in the district, but also in developing human capital.

Should the project proceed smoothly, by 2027, the district could be training its own nurses a significant boost for local health services, and an important step toward sustainable development under DCE Abubakar Sedik’s leadership.
