NAIMOS swoops on galamsey sites in Obuasi

The NAIMOS Taskforce has conducted a series of successful raids on illegal mining sites in Obuasi, Amansie Central District, seizing equipment and arresting a key suspect.

The operation, carried out on Monday, November 17, 2025, targeted sites at Anyankyireml and around the Obuasi Airport, where illegal mining activities had been ongoing despite efforts to curb them.

According to reports, the Taskforce acted on hot intelligence, revealing that the sites were being operated by illegal mining thugs from Amansie, who had forcibly taken over a legally acquired mining concession belonging to Asanti Gold Cooperation.
